Ashley Moy, CEO

Ashley S. Moy has won numerous international awards for design and research. Prior to cofounding Cast21, the accomplished engineer and researcher has worked in clinics in the United States and abroad to develop medical devices and pharmaceuticals. In 2013, Ashley led a team to develop a probiotic drug to help reduce the incidence of diet-induced heart disease and went on to win the iGEM World Championship. Prior to cofounding Cast21, Moy also did business development for Fibroblast, a healthcare Saas startup. When she is not working, she loves playing and listening to live music with her friends and aerial spinning.

Jason Troutner

Jason Troutner, CTO

Jason Troutner is a mechanical engineer with a passion for biomechanics, robotics, and computer programming. He has extensive build and leadership experience through his positions at Texas Instruments and Yaskawa America. Troutner also oversaw studies in the University of Illinois Human Dynamics and Controls Lab, where he worked on powered orthoses and medical simulators. When he is not studying and doing research, he enjoys practicing with and competing for the University of Illinois club gymnastics team.

Jerrad Zimmerman, MD

Jerrad Zimmerman, MD — Medical Advisor

Dr. Jerrad Zimmerman is the head physician for University of Illinois Athletics, and practices Sports Medicine at Carle Clinic in Urbana. His medical interests include athletic injury prevention, the Female Athlete Triad, and non-surgical sports medicine care. He performed his fellowship with the Sports Medicine Institute in South Bend, Indiana, and his residency with the University of Louisville in family medicine. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Zimmerman is certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and belongs to the Americal Medical Society of Sports Medicine.

Dennis Burke

Dennis Burke — Sales and Marketing Advisor

Dennis Burke is a distinguished life sciences sales and marketing executive with a variety of leadership roles with Hospira Worldwide Inc., and predecessor company Abbott Laboratories. He is well known for building successful brands and high performing teams in the injectable pharmaceutical and medical device arenas within the hospital setting. Dennis holds a B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. In his free time, Dennis is an enthusiastic Chicago sports fan, enjoys golf and is an active alumni volunteer with the Evans Scholars Foundation.

Christine Rohan

Christine Rohan — Strategy and Innovation Advisor

Christine Rohan is Managing Director, Innovation at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association where she is responsible for facilitating innovation acceleration and third party partnerships across the Blue Cross Blue Shield network. Previously Christine led strategy, innovation, business development, marketing and customer experience initiatives across GE’s Healthcare and Transportation businesses over her 25-year career. Christine also served in executive leadership roles a series of venture-financed healthcare technology startups. Christine was graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS Industrial & Operations Engineering. She earned a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard University. She is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt with LEAN, CAP and facilitation skills.

Chase Bonhag

Chase Bonhag — Business and Investor Relations Advisor

Chase Bonhag is an Associate at IllinoisVENTURES where he focuses on the sourcing and due diligence of new investments, the assessment of both technical and commercial strengths and weaknesses of early-stage technologies and provides investment recommendations for IllinoisVENTURES. Chase also plays an active role in the University of Illinois entrepreneurial ecosystem. Prior to joining IllinoisVENTURES, Chase worked on the Global Strategic Marketing team at Abbott Point of Care, supporting new product development projects. Chase has spent time at a boutique healthcare consulting firm focusing on care management and was a co-founder of HireStarts. Chase earned his MBA from the University of Illinois and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

Mark Newton

Mark Newton — Medical Administration Advisor

Mark Newton served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Swedish Covenant Hospital for more than 15 years. Mr. Newton has worked in the health care industry for over 18 years and has served in senior executive positions for Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Highland Park Hospital, Baxter World Trade Corporation and American Hospital Supply. As Senior Vice President Corporate Services for Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, he was responsible for system wide activities in business development, electronic commerce, joint ventures, relationship marketing, home care, and telecommunications. He serves as Member of the Advisory Board at AgeNet, Inc. In 1997, he was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA from North Park College and received a Master of Management degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Neelum Aggarwal

Neelum Aggarwal — Clinical Research Advisor

Neelum T. Aggarwal, MD, is a population health neurologist and clinical researcher in the field of aging. She is an Associate Professor and Faculty member in the Departments of Neurological Sciences and the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She is a Principal Investigator for multiple NIA and industry sponsored Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials, is the Director of Research – Rush Heart Center for Women and is a Co- Principal Investigator for the Community Engagement for Early Recognition and Immediate Action in Stroke (CEERIAS), a PCORI funded grant, that seeks to reduce stroke disparities in Chicago’s under served communities.

In addition to serving as the Vice Chair of the Women Physician Section of the American  Medical Association, she is also serves as  the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA).  Constantly focusing on best practices for the integration of medicine and technology, she is an active  Chicago Innovation Mentor and a MATTER mentor. She has a clinical practice and also serves as  a grant reviewer,  consultant to a variety of profit and non-profit organizations, and participates on multiple advisory boards that draw upon her unique and diverse skill set as a clinician-researcher.

Karl Peters

Karl Peter — Sales and Marketing Advisor

Karl Peter is a sales and marketing professional with experience in medical equipment and pharmaceutical product sales, expanding niche markets, implementing strategic sales plans and building profitable territories within highly competitive markets. Previously, he has been involved with numerous successful product launches as part of GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Covidien, Medtronic, Cheetah Medical, and most recently under the oncology portfolio with AngioDynamics. Karl graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BA in Psychology and served as an officer in the US Army.
